Joan Rivers Remains Unconscious as Celebrity Friends Send Prayers

Joan Rivers remains unconscious since being rushed to a New York hospital on Thursday morning, according to ABC News.

The comedian is reportedly on life support. She was placed in a medically-induced coma at Mount Sinai Hospital after going into cardiac arrest during a endoscopy at a clinic. She is said to have stopped breathing during the routine procedure.

Her daughter Melissa Rivers released a statement on Friday stressing that her mother’s condition remained serious.

British Scientists Discover Ebola Vaccine

Britons are to be the first in the world to test a new vaccine against the deadly ebola virus.

Altogether 60 healthy volunteers will be given the vaccine next month in a trial led by Oxford University scientists.

If the vaccine performs as well in humans as in monkeys, the trial will be extended to 80 people in The Gambia and in Mali.

The entire trial programme is being fast-tracked – subject to ethical approval – with the intention of using the vaccine in people at high risk in West Africa early next year.

Latest figures show that more than 1,550 people have died from the virus, with more than 3,000 confirmed cases - mostly in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.

It is the worst epidemic since the disease was first identified 38 years ago and the World Health Organization (WHO) predicts the outbreak will last for many months, affecting at least 20,000 people.

Nigeria Records New Case Of Ebola In Port Harcourt

A new Ebola case has sadly been reported in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. A doctor who is said to have secretly treated a diplomat, who met with Late Patrick Sawyer in Lagos before flying to Rivers State in a hotel, has died of the virus.

The doctor who is yet to be named died last Friday while his wife has also fallen ill. In all 70 people have been quarantined so far in Port Harcourt, while the hospital, Good Heart Hospital and the hotel has been shut down.

Interestingly, the diplomat the doctor has been secretly treating is still alive.

In a statement released by the Special Assistant to the Minister on Media and Communication, Dan Nwomeh, the country had thirteen cases of the Ebola Virus Disease including Patrick Sawyer, the index case.

Woman Kills Leopard with a Spade after Hour-long Fight (Photos)

A 54-year-old Indian woman has killed a leopard using only her farming tools after it attacked her on her way home from the fields last Sunday. Pictured above is Kamla Devi at the hospital.

According to the mum of one, the leopard attackedher as she walked back from working in the fields, and she fought him back using her sickle and a small spade. She says it took an hour before the injured leopard gave in, after which she had to walk more than half-a-mile before finding help.

She suffered deep cuts on her body and three fractures, and had lost significant amounts of blood by the time she reached a hospital. The animal was later found dead near Ms Devi’s village, Koti Bodna, in Rudarprayag.

A 54-year-old man, Valdelucio Goncalves was on Sunday miraculously found alive in a morgue after doctors had declared him dead.

Sources say the Brazilian man who was being treated for stomach cancer was found wriggling in a zipped-up body bag after doctors declared he died of ‘respiratory and multiple organ failure’.

Two hours after his ‘death’, Mr Goncalves’ brother, Walterio, was allowed into the morgue to dress his body ready for his funeral later in the day. But as he approached the body bag, it began moving.

Scientists have scored a breakthrough in the fight against the Ebola virus through the creation of “germ-killing robots”.

Two of the robots have been sent from the US to the JFK Hospital and ELWA Hospital in Monrovia, Liberia which is one of the worst hit countries.
The robots, called TRU-D SmartUVC, were invented using advanced disinfection technology to enable them effectively disinfect health environments where Ebola patients have been/are being treated.

Sunday was the seventh annual International Go Topless Day which is normally celebrated every August 24 and women around the world marched topless in support of women's rights.

The movement: states as its mission 'As long as men are allowed to be topless in public, women should have the same constitutional right. Or else, men should have to wear something to hide their chests.'

In one of 60 events planned around the world women gathered in Manhattan with placards and banners - and without their tops.

Members believe that humans were created by advanced extraterrestrial scientists known as the “Elohim,” and that not allowing women to go topless is an insult to the aliens’ artistry.

Go Topless spokeswoman Rachel Jessee said the principle of the protest is to promote “equal rights and respect for each other.”

“The idea that women should cover up is shameful,” she told The Huffington Post. “We should not feel ashamed. We want to instill self love and a love for each other.”

Jessee has participated in two other topless protests and said the reaction from spectators varies.

“Lots of people are supportive,” she said. “Some people who are against it don’t stay around too long — except for the people with signs that say, ‘You’re going to hell.’”

'New York is the ideal location for the world's first GoTopless Pride Parade,' said Rachel Jessee,

'Since 1992, it's been one of the few cities in the United States or the world where women's topless rights are already recognized by law.'

The parade began at 2pm at Columbus Circle, then continued through Times Square to Bryant Park.

Participants were invited to end the day at a new breast-themed bar in Brooklyn, called Boobie Trap.

The organization's goal is to de-sexualize and demystify women's chests.

'We hope that by participating in annual topless festivities, New York City women and women around the world will feel increasingly comfortable to go topless in public,' Jessee said.
