The cultists attacked four houses at Odo Owa in Kwara-South with guns and cutlasses
Six tertiary institution students have been remanded
in prison custody by an Ilorin Magistrate’s Court on cultism related
charges.
The suspected cultists, Ibukun Ajayi,
Julius Emmanuel, Kolapo Alabi, Adetayo Ademula, Olanrewaju Ajayi and
Israel Ajayi are charged with criminal conspiracy, mischief and
membership of a secret cult.
According to the
prosecution, the offences contravene Sections 97, 327 of Penal Code and
Section 11 (1) of Secret Cult and Secret Society in Educational
Institution (prohibition) Law 2001.

According
to the police First Information Report (FIR), the suspects carried out
the attack armed with dangerous weapons including guns and cutlasses.
The prosecution told the court that the six suspects, and others at large, are members of the Eiye secret cult.
All
six suspects pleaded not guilty to the charges but Magistrate Shuaib
Salihu ordered that they be remanded at Oke Kura Prison in Ilorin.
The case was adjourned until September 1
